About Heyshift
What Heyshift is, who it is for, and the problems it solves.
Heyshift is employee scheduling and attendance software for US businesses. It lets managers plan shifts, manage leave, track attendance and monitor labor cost across multiple locations from one platform, on web and mobile.
Heyshift is built for shift-based teams in restaurants, retail, healthcare, hospitality, warehouses, manufacturing, cleaning, construction, property management and other multi-site operations with hourly staff.
Heyshift replaces scattered spreadsheets and group chats with one published schedule. It reduces coverage gaps from surprise leave, shows labor cost while you plan instead of after the week ends, and keeps staff informed of every change.
A spreadsheet cannot show availability, leave, attendance and labor cost beside the schedule, and it cannot notify staff automatically. Heyshift keeps all of this on one live roster that managers and staff see in sync on web and mobile.
Heyshift is designed for US businesses, with US labor practices such as meal and rest break rules, finance-week reporting and USD pricing in mind.
Yes. Managers use the web app and mobile app, and staff get mobile access to schedules, shift offers, swaps and alerts. Staff mobile access is included in every plan.
Yes. Heyshift is designed to replace spreadsheets, group chats and manual timesheets for scheduling, leave and attendance in one platform.
Shift scheduling
Building, publishing and adjusting schedules.
Employee scheduling software is a tool that helps managers create, publish and adjust work schedules, track who is available, and keep staff informed. Heyshift is employee scheduling software that also covers attendance and labor cost.
Managers build the schedule on a drag-and-drop grid by area or by person, then publish it. Staff are notified by email and push notification, and the same roster appears in the mobile app.
Heyshift offers day, week, two-week and month views, so managers can plan short-term coverage or look further ahead without losing detail.
Yes. Heyshift supports copying weeks, reusable templates and bulk publishing, so a new schedule can start from a proven one instead of from scratch.
Yes. You can plan by named work area (for example bar, kitchen or floor) or by individual person, using the same live roster. Areas can be color-coded and reordered to match how your floor runs.
Open shifts are unassigned shifts that managers can post for eligible staff to pick up. On higher plans, open shifts can require manager approval before they are confirmed.
Staff can request a swap or offer a shift in the mobile app. A manager approves the change once, and the published roster and mobile app update together.
Heyshift sends email and push notifications when a schedule is published or changes, so staff do not have to check group chats to find out.
Locations, areas and availability
Running multiple sites and planning around who can work.
Yes. You can run multiple stores, sites, branches or departments from a single account, each with its own areas, staff and schedule.
Areas are named work zones inside a location, such as kitchen, bar, patio or floor. They help managers assign the right people and make the schedule match how the site actually operates.
No. Heyshift includes unlimited employees, locations and areas on every plan. Pricing is per seat.
Yes. Access can be scoped so each site sees only the people it manages, while owners and operations leads keep the multi-site view.
Availability and day-off preferences are recorded for each employee and shown on the roster while you assign shifts, so you can see who can work before you promise coverage.
Yes. You can record recurring work and shift patterns per employee, and they appear beside availability while you build the week.
Leave and compliance
Time off, break rules and labor policy while you schedule.
Staff request leave, managers approve it, and approved leave appears directly on the schedule grid alongside company holidays. Scheduling filters can hide people who are on approved time off.
Yes. Leave, holidays and scheduled days off are visible on the same grid you use to create shifts, so you do not need a separate calendar to check coverage.
Yes. Heyshift lets you configure meal and rest break rules and keeps them visible within the scheduling workflow.
Heyshift includes labor compliance management tools to help you follow break, leave and overtime policies while scheduling. Labor laws vary by state and city, so confirm your specific obligations with your legal or HR advisor.
Attendance, overtime and labor cost
Comparing scheduled and worked hours, and controlling cost before payroll.
Attendance tracking records when employees actually work and compares it with the published schedule, so managers can see variance, overtime and payroll-ready hours without separate spreadsheets.
Yes. Heyshift supports attendance on mobile devices as well as kiosks, tablets, shared devices and secure terminals.
Heyshift includes attendance corrections with approval workflows for adjustments, missed punches and overtime requests, all in one place.
Yes. Heyshift flags overtime and supports overtime rules and grace periods on the Pro plan. The Overtime Risk Calculator on the site can also estimate exposure before you publish a roster.
Yes. Attendance is anchored to the published schedule, so you can compare scheduled hours with actual worked hours and explain any variance before payroll.
Geo-fencing and device validation for attendance are listed as coming soon. Check the Heyshift features page for current availability.
Yes. Heyshift shows scheduled hours, attendance-based cost and labor versus income beside the schedule, so managers can control cost while planning, not after the week closes.
Finance-week aware means the schedule, labor totals and reports follow your finance week, so rollups match the periods your finance team uses.
LogsBook is Heyshift's daily shift log for income and expenses. Managers record shift sales (such as register, delivery and tips) and costs (such as supplies and petty cash) beside the roster.
Heyshift offers attendance reports, overtime analytics, payroll-ready hours and labor cost versus sales reports. Labor cost versus sales reporting and full export formats are on the Business plan.
A payroll feature that carries finance-week labor totals into payroll runs is listed as coming soon. Today Heyshift provides payroll-ready attendance and hours reports you can use with your payroll process.
Yes. Heyshift offers free calculators including a Scheduling ROI Calculator, a Labor Cost Percentage Calculator and an Overtime Risk Calculator for managers and owners.
Mobile app, team communication and AI
What staff and managers can do from their phones, and what is planned.
Staff can view their schedule, receive publish and change alerts, offer or swap shifts, pick up open shifts and use location channels. Managers can check live staffing and approve requests away from the desk.
Yes. Heyshift is available on iOS and Android as well as the web.
Yes. Heyshift has location-based channels with tags, reactions, threaded replies, action messages, voice notes and images, so crew updates stay in one place instead of mixed group chats.
AI shift assist, plain-language schedule questions and AI-drafted schedules are planned and listed as coming soon. Managers stay in control: AI drafts can be reviewed, edited and published by the scheduler.
